Daytona Beach

Merry Christrmas from Daytona Beach, Florida!  We got tired of the cold in Indy and also all the unpacking so......  This picture of a sunrise I stole from the internet that looked like one we saw this morning.

Samira

Samira came with us to finalize the cabinets we've selected for the house and she fell asleep in my arms.  She was really cute so we had to take some pictures.  She is now 5 months old and it's hard to believe she's been around that long, really she's a joy to have around, except when she is in the car strapped in her car seat.  She hates it and cries and screams the whole time she's awake.  And we have a trip to Florida planned.  Any tips for making the 16 hour trip with screaming Samira would really be appreciated!

Noviembre

You've gotta love Indiana in the fall!  It's late November and we still have some evenings warm enough to roast some marshmallows over a fire!

Trafalgar, IN

We went to one of Eli's co-worker's house Thanksgiving weekend which is about an hour south of Indianapolis near Brown County, a really beautiful part of Indiana.  It was cool that the house was situated on a little lake.  We had a good time relaxing and going out on the little pontoon paddle boat even though it was cold.

What in the World???

This THING is sitting in the basement of our new house and I have no clue what it is.  Could it be some kind of transformer?  An ancient generator?  I opened up one of the panels in the top and it seems to be filled with some kind of oil.  I heaved and hoed but couldn't budge it even a smidgen.  I'd like to get it out of the basement but don't really know how.  Leave a comment if you have any ideas what this thing could be.

Crazy kids!

I LOVE FALL.........Well, I used to.

Jumping in a huge mountain of leaves is something that my kids Alejandro and Natalia haven't been able to enjoy.........until now.  We lived in a brand new subdivision and ALL of the trees were tiny.  Now everything has changed with our move to this other part of Indianapolis.  The gigantic trees are never-ending.  Now for all the years to come, as I labor to pile up the leaves in preparation for bagging and garbage, my kids can run around undo all my work by jumping and romping in the piles.

Lowe's Build and Grow

Every once in a while we'll remember the Lowe's Build and Grow workshops they do on some Saturdays.  They have a little project that is easy to put together with a hammer and a few nails.  Natalia and Alejandro both get a little too excited hammering and my finger pays the price.  It's a win win because after they finish their project, I get to wander Lowe's and plan my own.

I was going to wait until after closing to post this picture but like all other surprises I just can't wait!  This is our new house!  We close in one week!  The previous owners took the kitchen with them when they moved out (cabinets, appliances etc.) so we had to get a construction loan instead of a conventional mortgage.  In essence that means that the house has to be habitable prior to move-in.  So we had to find someone to install kitchen cabinets, tile floor, counter tops and appliances.  As soon as all of that is done, we can move in!  It's in Lawrence Township so we can start trying to get Natalia into the Spanish Immersion Program (this was the whole purpose of the move so hopefully we can find a way to get her in).   The neighborhood is older so there aren't any silly HOA restrictions and I can build my wood shop! The street is not a through street so it really isn't very busy at all.  An added plus is that we back up to a golf course.

I bought this baby carrier backpack to carry Samira around but according to this evidence she doesn't like it at all.

But here a few minutes later and she's as happy as a clam.  Now if we could just communicate telepathically I could have a conversation with her about this backpack thing and find out what she really thinks.  Seriously, I have one week to return it if it doesn't work.  How soon do kids start talking anyway?

Happy birthday Eli!!! And Happy Halloween to everyone!!!  We had a good time carving faces in our pumpkins in preparation for Halloween.  Later we took to the streets in search for candy and whatnot.  Alejandro dressed up as Captain America and Natalia went as a princess.  After we filled our bags with candy we returned home to sing happy birthday to Eli and eat birthday cake.

Whiches, Ghosts, Skelatons and Broken Bones?

Natalia broke her arm just in time for Halloween.  She was climbing on her friend's swing set (upside down) and fell off, breaking her fall with her arm extended and breaking her arm at the same time.  We went to the hospital that night for x-rays and a splint and the next day Natalia got her cast.  She picked Halloween colors, an awesome purple and orange one.

Samira (4 months more or less) con Sasha, a precious moment of discovery.

So........

So we finally sold our house on Grassy Bank Drive, for real this time, and have moved away from our beloved southeast side neighborhood of Water's Edge, something we thought we would never do five years ago when we moved in.  It sold twice before but things fell through with the buyers before closing both times, what a headache, but the third time is the charm I guess.  So in my defense for this complete lack of posting, things have been really, really busy!

We went with a friend and his kids to Turkey Run State Park the other day here in Indiana.  It's about an hour and a half from Indianapolis and it's beautiful.  The only problem was all the Poison Ivy everywhere.
