I love this picture.  Eli is beautiful in this picture with her baby.  Eli didn't like how the drugs from her epidural with Natalia made her feel and decided to go natural with Alejandro in Spain and now with Samira here.  She labored for a while in bed at the hospital and then in a birthing tub which was in the same room.  She started to feel a little dizzy and so the nurse told her she needed to get out.  At this point her contractions were very strong and painful and luckily a nurse very skilled in coaching natural deliveries came in and really helped.  At one point during the pushing Eli was overcome with pain and screamed a little and then quickly apologized to the nurses for doing so....only Eli.  Samira Anna was born at 2:00 in the afternoon on Saturday the 26th of June, the same day Alejandro was born three years ago in Spain, what are the odds?  She weighed in at 8lb 5oz and measured 20.5 inches; she is the heaviest and shortest of all three kids.

Me encanta esta foto.  Eli es perfecta en esta foto con su bebé.  A Eli no le gustaba como las drogas del epidural le hicieron sentir cuando tuvo a la Natalia y decidió hacerlo natural con Alejandro en España y con Samira aquí.  Mientras dilataba Eli se quedó en cama y después cuando el dolor estuvo más fuerte entró en una bañera para partos que estaba en la misma habitación.  El agua de la bañera le ayudó mucho pero al poco tiempo se sentía mareada y la enfermera le dijo que se tenía que salir.  Entonces sus contracciones eran muy dolorosas y frequentes y por suerte vino una enfermera muy sabia en ayudar con partos naturales y ayudó muchisimo.  En un momento de fuerte dolor Eli gritó pero rápidamente dijo a las enfermeras que lo sentía por haber gritado....sólo Eli.  Samira Anna nació a las 2 de la tarde sábado, el 26 de junio, el mismo día que nació Alejandro hace tres años en España.  Pesó 3.8 kg y midió 52 cm.  Pesó más y midió menos que los tres peques.

Samira is a name found in Arab countries and India and means a cool gentle breeze on a hot summer day.  I guess it's appropriate since she was born at the end on June here in Indiana.  Eli heard the name on a telenovela that takes place in Morocco and we both really liked it and as an added bonus Alejandro can pronounce it really well.  Natalia and Alejandro are very excited about having a little sister and and have been very gentle holding her.  Hopefully it lasts.

Samira es un nombre que se encuentra en los países árabes y la India y en sánscrito significa una brisa fresca durante un día caliente de verano, nombre apropiado puesto que nació en Indiana en Junio.  Eli escuchó el nombre en una telenovela que toma lugar en Marruecos y a nosotros dos nos gustó mucho y además, Alejandro lo pronunica muy bien.  Natalia y Alejandro están muy contentos de tener una hermana chiquita y la llevan en brazos con mucho cuidado.  Ojalá que eso dure.

Pinchitos, Andalusian barbecue...mmmmmmmmmmmmm...summer food rules!  The barbecued corn on the cob and mashed potatoes were good too.

Pinchitos, barbacoa andaluza....mmmmmmmmmmm.....comida de verano, ¡cómo mola!  Las mazorcas de maíz a la barbacoa y pure de patata también estaban muy buenos.

A few weeks ago we caught a tadpole in the pond by our house, brought it home and watched it transform.  Alejandro and Natalia enjoyed watching little Spot turn into a frog.

Hace un par de semanas pillamos a un renacuajo en un estanque cerca de la casa, lo trajimos a la casa y lo vimos transformarse.  Alejandro y Natalia disfrutaron ver al chiquito Spot volverse rana.
